A fleet of ships made up of Russians, French and British arrives and sinks the Egyptian fleet at the Battle of Navarino in 1827, ending Egyptian participation in the war. Various past African societies created sophisticated built environments. When the British arrived in Egypt in the late 1800’s they brought this dish with them – it was inexpensive and filling. Egypt�s new policy towards Africa was linked to issues such as fighting colonialism, establishing new independent states, and promoting African ambitions for progress and development � all of which allowed it to reach into Africa.

Why the ancient people decided to settle on the banks of the River Nile is not known, though it is generally accepted that it is because of the Sahara Desert, which was once fertile, starting to change into a sandy expanse, forcing the population to look for water.
