From 1948 until the 1960s, a live radio program known as Louisiana Hayride was broadcast on Saturday nights from Shreveport’s Municipal Auditorium. Rockabilly combined elements of country music with African American blues and rhythm and blues, and the gospel fervor of both cultures. Big Bands gave musicians the opportunity to experiment with different approaches to improvisation. The Gregorian Chant is one of the earliest types of music. It has also incorporated electric instruments, such as guitars (especially basses) and synthesizers. And beyond his artistic and technical prowess, Armstrong should be remembered as the first superstar of jazz.
